Friday after school we came home and packed and headed off for our last vacation adventure in Mexico. This was a ten hour bus drive from Torreon to Guadalajara. We decided to stay in a nicer hotel that was right in the middle of historic downtown. We also decided to pay more and take the nicer bus. There are only 3 seats in each row instead of four, there are headsets to listen to movies, better blinds, less stops, ect. Our way there was very pleasant except for not being able to sleep. The way back was awful. Our bus smelled horribly of urine and was falling apart, literarlly. The driver almost went off the road and he thought it was a good idea to turn the heat on in the middle of the night. So not cool!
The hotel we stayed at was really awesome because they gave us a room at 7:30 am when we got there and let us all put our stuff in there even though check in wasn't for 7 hours and there were 6 of us at that time! We then ventured ever so far to the restraunt in the hotel...we were tired and their food looked good :-).
On our first day we decided to go on a horse carriage ride around town. Something one of the girls has been wanting to do in every city we visted and why not? It was like 12 dollars a person for an hour long ride. Then we wandered around the city looking for their gothic church, temples, roman cathedrals, and other beauties. Outside of the church there was a little market that was really pretty. The city was pretty because it had green grass, lots of open space, friendly people and tons of historical things to see!
For lunch we ate at a famous restraunt called la chata that had a huge line and pretty good food :-), they also had delicious iced tea....made me miss the south!
For supper we went to another famous place called Casa Bariachi where they had a live Mariachi band, some silly actors, some great live music, ect. Even though it was tourist place it was a tourist place for Mexicans to go to instead of the reverse.
Viva Mexico. You never know what each day will hold, where you will go, what you will do, who you will be with or when you'll go home! I hope to share with you are crazy adventures, our day to day life, stories from school, cool pictures of places we have been or things we have seen! This will be a snapshot of my year in Torreon!
