Hooray!! Mexico's Independence Day

Today (Wednesday) is Mexico Independence Day! This means...we have no school!!! Tuesday at school the 4 yr olds did a play about the children hero's from the American vs. Spanish war. It was interesting to listen to it from the perspective. Also how 6 kids held off a bunch of American men to save a castle for a few more days...I didn't quite catch the whole story because only parts were shared and because I had kids not listening to whom I needed to talk.
After school today I took a siesta. It is becoming a bad habit, but the days get so long with the kids and the fact that we stay out late. Tonight we went out to dinner, but since we didn't start making lunch until 4:30 and were cleaning up at 5:45 we didn't eat much :-)
Then later we played games at one of the other houses with 5 Mexican friends and about ten other female teachers. We played Spanish gestures and it was super difficult, but really fun!
Tomorrow we are going to go downtown to the Plaza de Armas to see what festivities we can take place in. We are hoping to go to an open market and do a little shopping and find some authentic Mexican looking things.
